We welcome a collection of regular selectors to our spotlight series, showcasing the rising talent from under The Arch.
We welcome SDXN as the first instalment to our spotlight series, a rising DJ and Producer that has been a resident selector with us for over a year. The Quietly Making Noise label co-founder has been growing on the scene, bringing a versatile sound with his deeper shades of house and techno. Featured appearances include Wonderland, Disco In The Basement, and tour shows with Artwork and Bondax at The Arch, we are excited to catch up with SDXN ahead of his Boiler Room debut at this years Brighton Music Conference.
Tell us about your debut set at The Arch?
‘One Friday last year I came through with Blixa from Polar after playing one of their Shop Selectors events. We went B2B to close out the main room and properly rinsed the Funktion One. Not sure I’ll ever tire of playing on that system!’
What’s your most memorable moment playing at The Arch?
‘Either my midnight set at Wonderland’s NYE party or opening for Dimitri from Paris last November. Everything seemed to come together perfectly that night – watching the room fill all the way up while playing some of my favourite disco tunes will always stay with me’.
‘That’s a tough one, loads of big names inspire me but I’m just as motivated by friends on the scene taking small steps towards building lasting careers in the industry. Seeing them move forward is a huge inspiration for me to do the same’.
What have you got coming up?
‘I’m still pinching myself that I’m playing a Boiler Room set before handing over to Big Miz and Eclair Fifi at the end of the month. The main room at The Arch is one of my favourite places to play and to do it for Boiler Room is massive for me.
Beyond that, many more nights under the arches, more to come with Disco in the Basement plus lots of new music to share soon’.
‘Too many to make a call on just one but I’ve been rediscovering Jan Jelinek’s Loop Finding Jazz Records recently which is an incredible LP. Autechre’s Amber is another all time fave!’
‘At the moment probably Sushitech, everything about what they’re doing is class’.
‘Another tough one, I think right now I’d have to say Jane Fitz. She blows me away every time’.
If you could go B2B with one DJ, who would it be?
‘Craig Richards, hands down’
You can catch SDXN making his Boiler Room debut April 25th along side Eclair Fifi, Big Miz and Detwiler.
